The following are some questions we hear from students.

The FPU Counseling and Outreach Center adheres to all State and Federal laws pertaining to confidentiality in a therapeutic setting. In other words, when you see one of our mental health counselors, information regarding your treatment with the center will not be shared without explicit written permission from the student except when required by State/Federal laws such as disclosure about child or elder abuse, or if we believe the student is at risk of hurting themselves or someone else.
No. We only offer services while the semester is in session- August through December,
and January through May.

There is no cost to students receiving services while school is in session.
No we do not. You may discuss the need for accommodations with an outside provider.
Your counselor will determine how often you see them. Much of the work happens when you are in between sessions. We are sensitive to student requests but are also working to teach you coping skills to cope outside of sessions.
We do not recommend that you stop seeing a counselor you are already working with outside of campus. If you are unable to see your counselor while the semester is in session, we can work with them on a treatment plan for while you are at school, and then you will return to your outside counselor to continue the work outside of the semester.
Yes. Groups are not established until the beginning of the school year and are determined by interest and need. Groups that are being offered may be posted around campus or you can email counseling@shreekrishnaprakashan.com for information about specific groups being offered that semester.
A crisis is defined as “a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger.” If you find yourself in a crisis during regular business hours you may come down to the counseling department and alert the department that you are experiencing a crisis and request to see a counselor. If you are in a crisis outside of business hours you may contact your community assistant, resident director, or call the Campus Safety emergency number at 603-899-5555. We are only able to assist with crises while you are on campus. If you experience a mental health crisis off campus, please contact 988.
Should a crisis occur outside of business hours, the resident director on duty and campus safety will determine if the on-call counselor should be called, or if the situation can be addressed when the office is open.
We understand that some people don’t feel comfortable seeing a counselor. Because of this we offer peer-to-peer support with our trained peer mentors. Our peer mentors are current Franklin Pierce students who have been trained to help other students. Peer mentors are also trained to identify when additional help may be needed and may refer you to one of the counselors in the office.
Rindge Undergraduate Students- To schedule an appointment with one of the counselors, go to our Medic Connection site and sign in using your Franklin Pierce single sign on information.
